"Caramelised is completely unexposed as a middle distance handicapper on the flat with just two runs for Alan King to prove himself in this sphere. The first of those runs saw him finish 6th at Wolverhampton and he was better than the bare result on a couple of counts there. Firstly he was held up off a slow gallop which left him poorly placed and didn’t allow him to use his stamina. Secondly the race was better than it looked with the 1st, 2nd and 5th all winning not once but twice since.
After a 152 day break Caramelised reappeared at Newbury and he was tipped by Hugh Taylor, resulting in a massive market move. Unfortunately for Caramelised (and Hugh) the ground had already gone against the horse and having traveled smoothly into contention he didn’t find much when asked. Back on better ground here better can be expected, especially with the promise of a good pace."
